How our team came together to support Blessings in a Backpack.
We talk a lot about building better together, sometimes through software, sometimes through service, and sometimes through something as simple (and meaningful) as a handwritten note and a warm pair of socks. This season, our team partnered with Blessings in a Backpack to assemble Believe Bags for students at Bloomingdale Elementary in Fort Wayne, IN. The experience was a reminder of how far small acts of care can go.
Believe Bags are designed to accompany the weekend food bags that Blessings in a Backpack distributes to children experiencing food insecurity. Each one includes:
Sometimes the simplest words: “dream big dreams”, “you are loved”, “we believe in you” can give a child the encouragement they need to face the week ahead with confidence.
A few members of our team (Arianna, Drew, JT, Steve, Jade, Loren, Ian, and Hannah) gathered together with markers, stickers, and stacks of index cards to assemble 440 Believe Bags, each one packed with care and creativity. What started as a quick volunteer project turned into a thoughtful, joy-filled assembly line: choosing the right sticker, crafting the perfect message, and imagining the smile each bag might create.
As always, the best part wasn’t just the task, it was doing it together. Between thoughtful handwritten messages and well-deserved cake breaks, these moments of service connected us with our community and with each other. A reminder why giving back is at the core of who we are.
The completed bags will be delivered to Bloomingdale Elementary, where Blessings in a Backpack distributes food and care packages weekly. From there, they’ll head home with students before the holiday break. Just a little reminder that someone is out there cheering them on.
