Student-data integration, 2014 to 2018
Our work · School Safety

The student-information integration behind SafeVisitor.

SafeVisitor is a school-safety product from Safe Hiring Solutions that screens and manages the people coming through a school's doors. Our part was the connection to the school's own records: we built and maintained the Skyward student-information-system integration, and handled ongoing platform development, from 2014 to 2018.

01 The problem

A visitor system that has to know the school.

Safe Hiring Solutions built SafeVisitor to help schools manage who comes through the front door. Visitors register or check in, the product screens them against the exclusion lists a school maintains, and approved visitors get a time-limited badge, with notifications for the staff who need to know.

For any of that to work at a real school, the product has to line up with the school's own student-information system. Safe Hiring Solutions brought us in to build that bridge: the Skyward integration, plus ongoing development on the platform, from 2014 to 2018.

A screening product is only as good as the records it can check against. The quiet, load-bearing part is the link to the school's own systems, and that's the part we owned.

02 Our scope

The Skyward integration, built and maintained.

Safe Hiring Solutions owns the SafeVisitor product. Our work was the connection between it and the school's student-information system, and the ongoing development that kept the platform running.

Integration

Connected to Skyward

The integration between SafeVisitor and Skyward, the student-information system many schools already run, so the product could work from the school's own records.

Data

The school's own records

A bridge that let SafeVisitor work against current student-information data rather than a separate list someone had to keep up by hand.

Development

Ongoing platform work

We stayed on as a development team on the platform from 2014 to 2018, building and extending it well past the first release.

Maintenance

Kept current on both sides

Maintenance that kept the integration working as Skyward and the SafeVisitor platform each changed over four years.

03 Under the hood

Proven technology, chosen on purpose.

Almost everything we ship runs on the same modern Microsoft stack: proven, supported, and easy to hire for years from now. Cutting edge but never bleeding edge.

04 The long run

Four years keeping the connection solid.

A school-safety product has to line up with the school's own systems, and that connection has to keep working as both sides change. We built and maintained SafeVisitor's Skyward integration and stayed on as a development team on the platform from 2014 to 2018.

Your turn

The next system on this page could be yours.

Tell us the challenge in plain language. We scope the work on complexity, commit to the figure in the room, and stay for the years after launch.
