Thirteen years on the same system.

BMWC Constructors builds industrial piping for some of the most demanding facilities in the country. Since 2013, every weld inspection has run through TOPS, quality-assurance software we launched and have maintained ever since, with the same developer the entire time.

01 The problem

Weld inspection isn't an off-the-shelf problem.

In industrial piping, every joint and weld has to be tracked, examined, and signed off, by qualified welders and certified inspectors, against exacting codes. Get the paper trail wrong and you can't prove the quality of the work.

That process is too specialized for any packaged product. BMWC needed a system shaped exactly like their QA operation, and a partner who would keep it aligned as that operation evolved, project after project, year after year.

They're a loyal organization, and we've never failed them. Fourteen years in, that sentence is still the whole account plan.

02 What we built

TOPS: the QA backbone for industrial piping.

A quality-assurance system for weld inspection, delivered as disciplined versioned releases, staged through test and client review before every production deploy.

Joints & welds

Every weld, tracked

Joint logs, weld tracking, welder assignment, and industry-standard piping report formats.

Examination

NDE results and reporting

Non-destructive examination types, results, discontinuity tracking, reject-rate reporting, and cross-project summaries.

Qualifications

Certified people, proven

Welder qualifications and procedure certifications, inspector sign-off permissions, and review workflows.

Materials

Spools, packs, and receiving

Spool grids, shipping requests, fabrication and test-pack tracking, and receiving tickets.

Reporting

Configurable reports

Extensive configurable reporting, client-specific formats, schedulable exports, and an employee import from their ERP.

03 Under the hood

Proven technology, chosen on purpose.

Almost everything we ship runs on the same modern Microsoft stack: proven, supported, and easy to hire for years from now. Cutting edge but never bleeding edge.

04 The long run

Launched in 2013, still counting.

This counter started the day TOPS went live and hasn't stopped. Quiet, dependable, and exactly the point: the cheapest system to own is the one that keeps working, looked after by someone who knows every line.
