For the past seven years, Counterpart has had the pleasure of partnering with local organizations in support of their Giving Tuesday campaigns. Throughout these years, we are proud to say we have raised over $1,000,000 in donations. We want to reiterate our sincerest appreciation to all of our many supporters, as well as those who supported both Riley Children’s Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana

For those that don’t know, #GivingTuesday (stylized as “#GivingTuesday” to emphasize the power of social media marketing) is an organized day of charitable giving for causes of all shapes and sizes across the world taking place on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving every year.

2012 – The first #GivingTuesday campaign was launched by 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation as a response to commercialization and consumerism in the holiday season. The idea was to follow Black Friday and Cyber Monday with Giving Tuesday and officially kick off the season of giving.

Money raised: $10.1 million

Participating organizations: Over 3,400

2013 – 2013 proved that the inaugural year wasn’t just a one time thing by over doubling dollars raised and participating organizations. The movement starts gaining even more momentum globally and receives coverage from USA Today and the Los Angeles Times.

Money raised: $28 million

Participating organizations: Over 7000

2014 – WDD partners with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana (BBBSCI) to launch their first #GivingTuesday campaign using a mobile fundraising platform developed by WDD (what would become AppToGive) that helped BBBSCI tripe their initial goals and raise $59,336 from 603 individual donations. Almost as impressively, WDD was able to develop this application in under two months.

Global #GivingTuesday donations continued to grow as the organization started settling into it’s groove. Faith-based, higher education, healthcare and the environmental sectors received a majority of 2014’s donations.

Money raised: $45.7 million

Participating organizations: Over 15,000

2015 – WDD partners with Riley Children’s Foundation for their #GivingTuesday campaign. Utilizing AppToGive’s live chat feature, Riley featured Andrew Luck, John Andretti, Morgan Jackson (Miss Indiana) and many more! All day long users could ask their favorite celebrities anything all the while supporting Riley.

BBBSCI again used AppToGive for their #GivingTuesday campaign, using momentum from the previous year to bolster another successful day of giving.

Global #GivingTuesday donations exceed expectations as the organization grows into maturity.

Money raised: $116,000,000

People participating: 700,000

2016 – WDD will be again partnering with Riley Children’s Foundation and BBBSCI for the 2016 #GivingTuesday Campaign. WDD will be dedicating the month of November to supporting their campaign efforts, building momentum for the year’s largest day of Giving. Stay tuned as we dive deeper into our partners’ missions and explore ways that you too can get involved in the world’s biggest day of giving.
