Counterpart has been at the forefront of using technology to revolutionize nonprofit fundraising for over a decade. Through our innovative platform, AppToGive, we’ve helped organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana (BBBSCI) and Riley Children’s Foundation raise over a million dollars in #GivingTuesday campaigns.
Our #GivingTuesday journey began in 2014 with BBBSCI, when we created the fundraising application that would ultimately become AppToGive. What started as a custom solution for one campaign, helping them surpass their goals, quickly proved its value and became a go-to tool for organizations looking to elevate their online fundraising. Because of its success, Riley joined us in 2015, expanding the reach and impact of ApptoGive even further.
AppToGive stood out for its interactive, community-building features: live celebrity chats, real-time donation tracking, and a sense of fun, competition, and connection that we often called a “modern-day digital telethon.” In 2017, we rolled out significant enhancements that strengthened donor engagement and made the platform even more dynamic.
Since then, thousands of individuals have donated through AppToGive, helping nonprofits drive meaningful change and strengthen their communities. Many of the platform’s features have inspired industry-wide enhancements to digital fundraising, something we’re proud to have pioneered. Today, there are several tools available that offer similar interactive giving experiences, so in 2019, we decided to retire AppToGive and focus our energy on new ways to help organizations make an impact.
While AppToGive is a big piece of our history, our commitment to supporting local nonprofits and giving back has only grown. Each year #GivingTuesday gives us a chance to celebrate the important work nonprofits do and to reflect on how we can contribute beyond technology.
This year, #GivingTuesday will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. As part of our quarterly “Donut Run”, we’ll be surprising local nonprofits with treats and thank-yous the day after #GivingTuesday. And we’d love your help deciding where to stop.
